How to Track Student or Class Progress?

The best way to track class progress is by using the Reports section. It turns student data into clear, actionable insights you can use right away. Export results to PDF or Excel for easy sharing.

The Reports section isn’t just helpful, it’s genuinely transformative. It turns raw student data into clean, meaningful insights you can actually use. Track progress, highlight challenges, and review performance at both class and individual levels with ease. Let’s dive in.

Overview Tab

As we explore the Overview Tab, you’ll get a quick, powerful snapshot of your class performance, with all your most important insights gathered in one clean view.

  • What You Can See here at the beginning;
    Total Students, Interactive Courses Completed, Interactive Average, Reading Progress


Key Insights

This section highlights:

  • Challenging Quizzes where many students scored below 60%
    Skill areas (grammar, listening, vocabulary, reading) that need more attention.

Charts Included

  • Course Success Chart: Shows how successful each course or quiz was.

  • Category Performance: Shows your class’s performance in grammar, reading, listening, and vocabulary.

  • CEFR Level Analysis: Visual breakdown of the CEFR levels your class performs best in.

  • Progress Over Time: Tracks class performance weekly, monthly, or daily.


Exporting an Overall Report

You can export a PDF report that includes everything you see on this page, such as Key Insights, Course Breakdown, Category Performance (Grammar, Listening, Reading, Vocabulary, etc.) to track overall performance, and keep the record of the progress.

  1. Click Export PDF on the right corner of the page.

2. Then open the file you downloaded.


Students Tab

This tab gives you a smart, at-a-glance look at how your class is doing, both as a whole and student by student. It’s where all the meaningful insights about your learners come together.


Student Analytics Table

What you can see here are;

  • Average quiz score

  • Completion rate

  • Category scores (listening, grammar, vocabulary, reading)

  • Last activity date

  • Total time spent (if tracked)

You can also export the general report from the Student Analytics table. Simply click the button for your preferred format.

Key Features

  1. Students Needing Attention: Highlights learners who are struggling.

  2. Top Performers: Shows students with the highest scores.

  3. Export: Download the full student report as PDF or Excel.


How to View a Student’s Detailed Performance

  1. Go to the Students tab under Reports.

  2. Click on a student’s name.

  3. On a student’s detail page, you’ll see the same information shown in the Student Analytics table - total courses taken, completed courses, average score, and total active time.

  4. In addition, you can view the student’s Category Performance and detailed course results.

  5. Click on Export then desired format to download the student’s report.


  6. If you click the Inspect button, a pop-up window will open where you can see the full details of the student’s answers.


  7. This allows you to review the specific questions the student struggled with and understand exactly where they need more support.


Course Analytics

This section offers a smart, organized breakdown of your course-level analytics, so you can quickly understand how each module is being completed, scored, and used.


What You Can See For Each Module:

  • Course Name
    Name of the course and their module types ( School, Library, Worksheet)

  • Completion Status
    Shows how many students received the module and how many have completed it.

  • Average Score
    Shows the average score of all students who were assigned the module.

  • Average Time
    Shows the average amount of time all assigned students spent on the module.

  • File format buttons to download the general report.


How to Download Overalll Report About Course Analytics

  1. On the Reports page/ Courses click on the button of your desired format.


2. Open the downloaded file. This report helps you view the overall performance of all courses in your class in one place, making it easier to perform quick and reliable evaluations.



How to See Student Completion Status for a Module

  1. Click the Students button next to a course.


  2. You will see which students have completed the assigned module along with their completion dates, which students are still in progress.



Mistakes Tab

The Mistakes Tab is one of Carna’s most impactful features. It highlights the recurring errors across your class, giving you a deeper understanding of where students need extra attention. It’s an easy way to see exactly which topics deserve a review.

How it Works

Carna analyzes all student answers and finds questions where many students chose the wrong option.

What You Can Do Here

  • See each problem question along with its error rate

  • Review which wrong answers students selected

  • Identify patterns in mistakes (for example, tense confusion or vocabulary gaps)

  • Adjust the error rate filter to focus on the most serious problems

How to Use the Mistakes Tab

  1. Go to the top menu and click Reports. Then click the Mistakes tab.You will see a list of questions that many students answered incorrectly.

  2. Click on the Filter button.

  3. Use the error rate slider to set a threshold and filter the questions.


  4. After adjusting the filter, you’ll see all questions that were answered incorrectly at or above the error rate you selected.

    1. Course and Category
      Shows which module the question belongs to and the skill area it targets.

    2. Error Rate
      Tells you what percentage of students got this question wrong.

    3. Attempts
      Shows how many students answered the question.

    4. Question View
      Lets you read the question exactly as your students saw it.

    5. Correct Answer
      Highlighted in green so you can quickly identify it.

    6. Most Common Wrong Answers
      Shows which incorrect options students picked most often and how many chose each one. Click any wrong answer to see the students who selected it.
