How to use Carna Library?

The Library is where you read stories, short texts, and books in English. You can continue your current book, open books your teacher assigned, or choose something new to read.

  3. Under this, you will see the main tabs:

    • Assigned Libraries

    • Short Reads

    • Books

The Continue Reading tab shows the books you have already started.

On each card you can see:

  1. The CEFR level (A1, A2, B1, B2).

  2. The type (Book or Short Read).

  3. The title and a short description.

  4. Your progress bar (for example, 10% or 67%).

  5. Extra info such as pages, age group, and Audio.

How to continue your book:

  1. Make sure the Continue Reading tab is selected.

  2. Look at the big card at the top or the smaller cards below.

  3. Click Continue Reading on the book you want.

  4. The reader opens and you start from the page where you stopped last time.

Use this tab whenever you just want to keep reading the same book as before.

Assigned Libraries

The Assigned Libraries tab shows books your teacher has chosen for your class.

If your teacher says “Read the book from Assigned Library and answer a quiz,” this is the tab you should use to read the material before starting your assignment in the Learn tab.

How to read an assigned book:

  1. Click the Assigned Libraries tab.

  2. Find the book your teacher mentioned.

  3. Click Start Reading (or Continue Reading if you already started).

  4. The reader opens on the first page or the page you left off if you’re picking up where you stopped.

Short Reads vs Books

On the Library page, you can use the tabs to quickly find the kind of reading you want. There are two main options designed to match your needs:

  • Short Reads – very short stories or texts

    • Usually 1–3 pages

    • Great for quick practice

  • Books – longer stories or novels

    • Many pages (for example, 40–50 pages)

    • Good for long-term reading and vocabulary building

How to open Short Reads:

  1. Click the Short Reads tab.

  2. Browse the cards (for example, A Seaside Holiday, A Fancy Dress Party).

  3. On each card, check the level, pages, age group, and Audio.

  4. Click Start Reading or Read Again to open the story.

How to open Books:

  1. Click the Books tab.

  2. Browse the cards (for example, The Painted Wedding, Trapped by the Snow, Discovering Aotearoa).

  3. Check the level, pages, age group, and Audio.

  4. Click Start Reading or Continue Reading to open the book.

Searching and Filtering by Level (Short Reads & Books)

When you are in Short Reads or Books, you can quickly find something that fits your level using:

  • The search bar

  • The Filters button (for CEFR level)

How to search by name:

  1. Go to the Short Reads or Books tab.

  2. Click in the Search by name… box.

  3. Type the title (for example, “Seaside Holiday” or “David Copperfield”).

  4. Matching books will appear automatically.

How to filter by CEFR level:

  1. Go to the Short Reads or Books tab.

  2. Click the Filters button on the right.

  3. In the Level section, select the levels you want to see (for example, A2 and B1).

  4. The Library now only shows books and stories at those levels.

  5. To remove all filters, click Clear All Filters.

Using filters helps you quickly find reading texts that are not too easy and not too difficult for you.
